The Louisiana Sweater Junior is designed to have approx. 18 cm [7 inches] of positive ease. The sizes 2-4 (4-6) 6-8 (8-10) 10-12 (12-14) years are designed to fit a chest circumference of approx. 55 (58) 63 (71) 77 (82) cm [21¾ (22¾) 24¾ (28) 30¼ (32¼) inches]. The measurements for the finished garment are listed on the front page of the pattern (please note that these measurements are only achieved if the sweater is knitted in the correct gauge). If the recipient measures 58 cm [22¾ inches] around the chest, you should knit a size 4-6 years. Size 4-6 years has a chest circumference of 76 cm [30 inches] which will, in this example, give 18 cm [7 inches] of positive ease. If the measured chest circumference deviates from the age guide, you can adjust the lengths to the person you’re knitting for. The same applies if the child is short/taller than average.

Needles: Circular needles: 8 mm [US11] / 40 and 60 or 80 cm [16 and 24 or 32 inches] and 9 mm [US13] / 40, 60 and 80 cm [16, 24 and 32 inches]; Double pointed needles: 8 mm [US11] and 9 mm [US13]  

Materials: 250 (300) 300-350 (350) 400 (450) g Chunky (approx. 50 g = 110 m [120 yds]). Note that the design is worked in 2 strands of yarn held together throughout the pattern and the given yardage amount is the total yardage needed.
